Mom’s Birthday 🎂

We went to visit Mom, had lunch with her and she had a birthday donut. She kept asking for her shoes while we were at the kitchen table. I found them for her and she was relieved! We took a walk - there was a nice breeze that she enjoyed. She wanted to 'go home' but was being really friendly with Sevi and Sahar and we left while she was talking to them (in Farsi).

Mom was in good spirits! She said she wasn't hungry but we had yummy sandwiches from Mendocino farms - she almost ate the whole thing, and it was big! She had some tea, then she became tired towards the end. She was wearing 4 shirts on top of each other so we changed her before we left, then she she said she was tired and laid down for a nap in her room.

Visit and tea

One week later at Mom's place. It was a very nice visit, she took a long shower, then we sat for some tea and fruit. It was a peaceful Saturday morning. Love her so much.

Visitors

Stopped by after work and mom and dad were expecting visitors, Khaleh and Saeed. Mom was very eager to go out for a walk so we took a quick stroll. But even at 6:30 pm it was too sunny so we cut it short. It was nice to just get out even for a bit. Just as we got back to the house, our visitors arrived. She was happy to see them. 

Sweetest kindest being

Mom is one of the most genuinely kind people I know. Love just flows out of her. Love, love love. 

Long summer days

It's nearly 7pm and the sun is still out. Today's walk was shorter than usual. We ran into dad on our walk and then Mom was eager to get back home. Love, love, love. 

Roses of Futura

The color of the roses outside of Mom and Dad's house seemed to glow so brightly tonight. 

Summer evening stroll

Another beautiful evening for a walk. Dad fasted again today so I took Mom for a walk instead of having dinner. So many kids out and about at the park. 

Saturday morning walk

It lights up my day to visit mom and dad first thing in the morning. Mom is always so delighted to see me walk through the door. She greeted me by name and I gave her a long long hug. We had a delicious breakfast, got cleaned up and headed for a nice walk around the park and down the trail path. We ran into her old friend from yoga class, a older Indian woman who asked why mom didn't come to yoga any more. She seemed to genuinely miss her and gave Mom a hug. 

Path with no cars

Mom and I have started to take the trail route back home in order to avoid seeing all the cars parked on the streets. She really seems annoyed by all the cars. The trail is so serene. 

Fun and laughs

Mom greeted me by name and was as happy to see me as I was to see her! It was after dinner time so we decided to go straight in a walk. It was the most perfect weather and we saw a lot of people at the park!

As I took the picture she was excited to see it and we both laughed at how good the photo came out.

We headed home to have some mint tea to round off the evening.

Long shadows, long walk.

It was a terribly hot day and by 7pm, I suggested we try taking a walk to get some fresh air. It was still sunny, but there was a pleasant breeze. We walked and walked, mom asked if this was the way home and I kept saying yes until we finally got home. It was a long but refreshing walk.

Is that your car?

Every time we walk past my street, she glances over to find my silver Honda van and says "there's your car, in front of your house. I always see it there."

Stop and smell the roses

These bright roses are growing right outside the house and mom wondered what they smelled like. "They have no scent, but they have color!" she said.

Evening walk to end the weekend

Mom and I had a very enjoyable walk this evening after a very hot and eventful rollercoaster of a weekend. Deep breath... Fresh air...

Out on a walk with Jax the dog

Mom was happy to get out of the house this evening and it was such beautiful refreshing weather. We decided to stop by my house and bring Jax with us. He was happy, she was intrigued by his actions, and it was a pleasant adventure. Eventually, mom was ready to head home and suggested that we leave the dog there in the park. 

Overcast day

This morning we had breakfast together. Dad was already setting up the table when I came in. Mom welcomed me by name and was very excited to see me. She said she had missed me and asked where I had been!

Dad had already gone for his walk very early that morning, so Mom and I went together. It was perfect weather, overcast, with a slight breeze. 

Such a nice clean blue house

On our way back home mom always comments on how nice the neighbors painted their house. It's right on the corner of the street, painted blue with white trim. She says it looks so clean! 

Not a soul in sight

The Carmel Creek park and playground were unusually vacant this morning. So quiet and not a soul in sight. This is the place all the kids called "granma's park" when they were little. Their favorite place to go!

Quiet and serene street

For once mom pointed out how nice and clear the street was, not a car in site. She likes the greenness of the trees and shrubs! 

So many cars!

We passed by this street in our way to the park and mom was disgusted by all the cars parked in the street! She asked what all these cars were doing there. I guess she prefers empty streets! 

Walking hand in hand

We walked and talked about all the kids we saw playing soccer at the park. As usual, mom felt there were way too many cars parked on the streets these days! 

The breeze feels good

It's been exceptionally hot lately and today was one of those days. When we stepped out for our walk there was a nice cool breeze. Mom commented several times how good the breeze felt! It sure did. 

Happy day with good friends

We had a nice day trip to Malibu to celebrate a special day with our best friends. Mom was happy with her sister and her best friend, Han Young, at her side!

Colorful flowers

Mom and I had a good walk today, although it was shorter than usual. Along the way she pointed out the brightly colored flowers and posed for a picture. She asked about the kids and what they were up to. She noted how nice the weather was, she as usual pointed out how many cars there were in the streets! She also pointed out the doll with the yellow dress and yellow hat (the fire hydrant) across the street. 

It was a fun walk today.

Early dinner, short walk

Went to visit mom and dad after work today. Mom welcomed me by name. She looked great and happy. She didn't have an apetite though, and seemed to have energy to burn. So we went on a walk. It was beautiful fresh weather. 

Happy Father's day !!

Thanks to Fee and Andrew for a great brunch! We all enjoyed a fun and delicious day together. Mom was very excited to see everyone and especially Khaleh. 

The long way home

Today Mom had a lot of energy and so we took the extra long way back home though the trails. As an added bonus she was happy that there were no cars around.

Mom commented on the beautiful color of these flowers. They are stunning! 

Sleepy time

I had the urge to go for a late night visit and I think I woke Mom up. Dad came down too and we chatted a bit. Then we said our good nights as Mom was eager to go to bed. Good night! 

Moody

Mom was out and about when I visited this morning. She looked like she had been grazing on the nuts and dried fruits that were on the table from my dad's fast that day. I made the usual breakfast feast, but she did not eat anything.

We went for a walk, but 5 minutes in she was eager to go back. She claimed she was tired, and had aches when she walked. With quite a bit of coercion we walked, albeit slowly,  around the park, then headed back home. She climbed back into bed and went to sleep. 

Surf's up

After a full day of surfing, I still get energized walking with mom. It was a slow walk today as I was sore all over. 

A new day a new hat

Memorial day long weekend. Dressed up with a new hat and off for our walk.

Another Saturday, another stroll around the park. Good moods all around.

It's a wonderful day for a stroll. Mom asked about all the cars parked on the street. She thanked me profusely for coming to visit.

Friday evening walk, there's a nice glow all around and mom was so happy to get out of the house!

Windy day

Another great walking day, we just had to bundle up a bit. 

Boating at Newport Bay

We all piled into Fee Fee's big SUV and headed to Newport Bay for a nice boat ride at Nima's house. It was a pleasant day and mom did well. She was ready to go home after a little while, but all in all it was a good day!
